A Special Day

Eight years ago today, Cayson, our first grand baby was born, with a head full of black hair. I’m not gonna lie, when the doctor brought him out to meet us, I was worried…. he wasn’t that cute, he had a rough birth, but it didn’t take but a couple of hours and he was the cutest baby around. It’s still a joke around our house, that I immediately didn’t say he was beautiful, like most grandparents. Lol. 😳

His parents lived with us at the time, because our son was in nursing school. Therefore, I got to be around throughout the entire pregnancy. I remember the months leading up to his birth. The cakes, brownies, snickers & Mexican food was so good. No lie, I gained 20 pounds. I blamed it on his momma. Lol!

I had just turned 40 a month before he was born. It never bothered me to have a grandchild that young. I had the best Granny in the world and it was/is my goal to be just like her. I was excited that I would get to pick a grandma name. My name is so unusual and I don’t have to share it with anyone. I knew I wanted a name that was unusual, but cute & easy for him to say. Just a week before he was born we were watching TV and heard the name Gia. I knew that was it. My son says it means:

It’s so hard to believe that Cayson is 8 years old today. January 14, 2010 changed our lives. We become Poppa & Gia. There’s no way to describe it. If you’re a grandparent, you know what I mean. 😍 They are called GRAND for a reason. If you’re not, I don’t know how to explain it.🤷🏼‍♀️

After he was born we took him around and proudly showed him off. My youngest son was a senior in high school and played baseball. We took Cayson, just a few weeks old, to baseball games & tournaments that was 4 hours away. We all spoiled him! We never treated him like a baby. Oops!! But, he has turned out just perfect.

He is so kind, quiet, big hearted, lovable, maybe a little spoiled and a great, big brother.
